**Position Purpose**
The Technical Direction Team is responsible for facilitating the integration of all design disciplines within the TAIT Group to provide end-to-end solutions for our partners. Our global multidisciplinary team works with clients in the realms of Live, Location Based Experience, Brand Experience, and Placemaking to deliver the unforgettable.
The Technical Director role is responsible for directing and managing project design and implementation of multiple design disciplines within our project production. The Technical Director is the primary point of contact for the coordination and integration of technical systems with outside entities such as clients, A&E team members, General Contractors, and/or vendors. For projects in production, this position is responsible for in-field supervision of show system installation, coordination with construction activities, and vendor oversight. The Technical Director may be responsible for supervising multiple Technical Managers and Technical Associates determined by project scope, scale and budget.
**Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
+ Strong knowledge of AVCL system design and implementation.
+ Maintaining project files, tech logs, design documents, bid packages, schedules, and punch lists
+ Technical verification of systems for compatibility and suitability for intended use.
+ Management of vendor contract compliance for all phases of associated technical elements.
+ On-going coordination, integration, and oversight of schedules, technical elements, systems design, integration, fabrication, shipping, installation and programming all relatedcomponents, vendors, trades and departments for the project installation.
+ Participation in ongoing budget reviews through all phases of the project in order to provide accurate budget and cash flow information to the Project Manager or Producer
+ Oversight of all on-site phases of production tasks and staff.
+ Interface and coordinate with the architect of record and in-house contract design staff for integration of technical design efforts and systems.
+ Assist in the creation of requests for proposal (RFP) for technical systems and outside contracted services for assigned projects.
+ Estimating and budgeting as required for assigned projects, focusing on technical systems but including all disciplines as required
+ Evaluation of RFPs, bid responses and recommending vendors, suppliers, and integrators.
+ Proficient at understanding Architectural and Construction level drawings

This role does not have any direct reports within the organization. Projects will on occasion require the management of project scope, contractors, vendors and manufacturers to ensure a successful outcome.
**Competencies**
+ Management and coordination of teams
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office
+ Understands Audio/Video/Controls/Lighting and the methodology of interconnecting various digital/analog systems (traditional broadcast and network IP form)
+ Knowledge of basic Interactive technologies and interfacing systems
+ Should be able to acquire new skills quickly as projects necessitate
+ Provide a primary point of communication between artistic teams, client and vendors with regards to artistic intent and practical technical realities of real-world application andconstruction, provide problem-solving and mitigation.
+ Knowledge and experience with systems design, integration, and installation across multiple technical show - design disciplines, systems and elements of the project.
+ Audio equipment and systems including DSP, amplification, media playback, and loudspeaker systems.
+ Video equipment and systems including projection systems, display technologies, and projection systems.
+ Show control equipment including Alcorn McBride, Medialon AMX and Crestron Network-based systems.
+ Lighting techniques, instruments, fixtures, hardware, equipment, and dimming systems.
+ SFX “Special effects” all aspects of practical effects including water, fire, atmospheric and optical effects, techniques, systems, and hardware.
+ Mechanical effects, show action equipment and systems.
+ Robotic, animatronic figures, programming, and related systems.
+ Rigging, accepted industry standards, hardware, equipment, and systems.
+ General construction means and methods.
**Minimum Qualifications**
To perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position.
+ Bachelor’s degree in one of the following – Engineering, Architecture, Business Management, Construction Management, Liberal Arts – Theater Design/Technology
+ 4 years experience (or 2 years experience with a graduate degree)
+ Experience in “large project” themed entertainment design and/or management is highly desirable.
+ Preferred 4 years of major entertainment development experience; major theme park/themed entertainment/cruise ship development/theater production experience.
**Working Conditions and Physical Effort**
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:

+ Must be able to carry equipment within material handling guidelines
**Work conditions of the role are:**
+ Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
+ Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions
+ Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
+ Must be able to travel internationally for possibly project needs.
