You'll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive environment with our full-time staff, allowing you to grow your skills and your career while building experience in Systems Engineering. The Systems Engineer Internship is a temporary position within HII – Mission Technologies which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training in the development, integration, and testing of complex network policies, procedures and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in systems engineering and a passion for working on challenging and network policies, procedures and standards. Permanent US work authorization without the need for sponsorship now, or in the future is also required. Essential Job Responsibilities + Assist other engineers with overseeing and managing the technical aspects of ongoing projects. + Collaborate with the engineering team to contribute to the development and integration of network policies, procedures and standards. + Support the creation of technical documentation, including system specifications, interface control documents, and system architecture diagrams. + Participate in the system design reviews and valuable insights and recommendations. + Assist in the testing and validation of system components to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements. + Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education + High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed. + Preference for Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering or similar degrees. + Minimum requirement of a cumulative 3.0 GPA while participating in this internship. Skills + Strong academic performance with a focus on courses related to systems engineering, requirements engineering, and systems integration. + Solid understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical applications. + Proficiency in using industry-standard software and tools. + Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. + Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner. + Knowledge of defense-related technology and understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
