SALT-Indirect Tax-COE Assistant Manager

As the Indirect Tax Assistant Manager you are responsible for delivering high quality client service related to Sales/Use tax compliance, team development and engagement management that supports client satisfaction including accuracy and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
You day-to-day may include:
+ Performing reviews of complex engagements and review of the Sales/Use tax returns (large/diamond clients of SUT) handled by team members under the supervision of the Assistant Manager
+ Monitoring, documenting and applying any changes in tax rates, tax laws for sales and use tax return preparation.
+ Identifying technical issues on engagements and present recommendations and solutions to the engagement teams
+ Managing the engagements and coach the team on technical concepts
+ Acting as subject matter expert (“Go To” Person) and be a conduit for knowledge sharing
+ Participating in the technical forums
+ Developing content and help conduct trainings
+ Identifying gaps, coach, mentor and developing technical skills of team members
+ Building professional relationship with the engagement teams
+ Managing and direct team members reporting to the Assistant Manager
+ Working with CoE management to monitor and develop best practices, policies and protocols for engagement execution in support of local office client relationship teams
+ Training and supporting CoE team members on best practices, policies, and protocols
+ Evaluating deliverable deadlines and team workload to prioritize engagement execution by team members reporting to the Assistant Manager
+ Other duties as assigned
You will have the following technical skills or qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in business-related major preferred.
+ 5 to 8 years of sales & use tax return preparation, review, accounting and finance experience.
+ 2 to 3 years of team leadership experience.
+ You have critical thinking and analytical skills and detail-oriented.
+ You have an aptitude for learning technology (proprietary tools).
+ You have excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.
+ You demonstrate a process improvement and knowledge-sharing mind set.
+ You execute in cross-cultural business settings.
+ You have experience working with an outsourcing work stream or in a shared service environment required.
+ You have strong proficiency with MS Office suite. Extensive experience with Vertex.
+ You have strong supervisory skills, delegation skills, workload, assessment and prioritization skills required.
+ You have the ability to work additional hours as needed.
+ You have the ability to travel on short notice as needed. Travel up to 5%.
+ This role is an on-site role and will require individuals to work in person from the assigned office.
