Pulmonary Function Technician - Respiratory Therapy

As a Pulmonary Function Technician, you will provide diagnostic evaluation of pulmonary functioning in patients managing respiratory insufficiencies. Collaborating with physicians, nurses and other healthcare staff, you will utilize the latest technologies, including robotic and advanced bronchoscopies, to ensure patients receive the best treatment possible. Additional responsibilities include measuring respiratory exchange, analyzing arterial blood gases and performing cardiopulmonary assessments. Ultimately, your efforts will focus on slowly weaning patients from continuous ventilation, helping improve outcomes and quality of life. **A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00AM - 3:30PM and/or 8:00AM - 4:30/5:00PM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform ordered pulmonary function, methacholine testing and pulmonary stress testing + Perform and analyze quality control data, perform advanced invasive or noninvasive protocols, and design and perform investigatory protocols. + Manage the Pulmonary Function Laboratory, including scheduling and ordering supplies. + Facilitate services for home care patients. + Prepare, maintain and calibrate pulmonary function testing equipment. + Maintain adequate levels of supplies used for testing. + Troubleshoots equipment problems and reports needed repairs/replacements. + Provide educational in-services to staff, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants. + At sites where applicable, perform blood gas puncture and analysis. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Associate's Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. + Registered Pulmonary Function Technician (RPFT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing by the NBRC + Florida Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) License + Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification + One year of patient experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor's Degree + Previous PFT experience Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. Click the link and see how we're dedicated to providing what matters most to you: https://jobs.clevelandclinic.org/benefits-2/ **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to administer six-minute walk tests at a pace of at least 3.0 mph (average walking speed), ability to move K cylinders onto dollies, ability to change gas cylinder regulators with a wrench and ability to lift boxes up to 25 pounds in weight. + Ability to perform pulmonary function tests for demonstration purposes and for the collection of biological control data for QC purposes. + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
