Summary: Payroll Specialist plays a key role in managing the integrity and timeliness of HRIS data along with processing biweekly payroll. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in HRIS systems and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, as well as the reporting and analysis of recurring or ad hoc HRIS data requests. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: + Reviews, or directs review of, personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers, and changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll. + Process bi-weekly payroll and related items. Verify time & attendance for bi-weekly payroll. Work with department supervisors regarding time & attendance. + Work in conjunction with HSE regarding new hires, training, accident reporting and safety. + Updates employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses. + Coordinate new hire benefits and enter into payroll system. Assist in planning yearly renewal meetings and update all payroll items. + Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as 401k, insurance and banking. + Reconcile deductions with payroll. + Interprets, administers and applies company policies, plan documents and government regulations affecting Payroll and Human Resources functions to include tax withholding, garnishments, FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, EEO and ADA. + Interprets Studies and standardizes policies and procedures. + Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons. + Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports. + Compiles and maintains records for use in employee benefits administration. + Record keeping of Employee attendance and vacation/sick leave accruals in ADP. + Prepare various internal management reports, including overtime, benefits, payroll cost coding, accounting, PL and leave accruals, garnishment, employee loan, 401K loan and deduction and ad-hoc reporting. + Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations + Prepare various governmental reports, including overtime, benefits, payroll cost coding, accounting, PL and leave accruals, garnishment, employee loan, 401K loan and deduction and ad-hoc reporting. + Responsible for maintaining proper attendance. + Responsible for representing Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. in a professional, respectful, honest and courteous manner with customers and co-workers. + Responsible for professional levels of quality and quantity of work. + Assist with other special projects as necessary. Qualifications: + High School Diploma or GED required. + Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll and HRIS administration, preferably in a large-scale corporate environment + Proficient use of HRIS systems, workforcenow/adp a plus + Proven ability to communicate complex information in a clear and professional manner, both verbally and in writing + Knowledge of HR law, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, COBRA and HIPAA is highly desired. + To perform this job successfully, an individual should have High level of proficiency in MS Office applications to include Excel, Word and Outlook. + A working knowledge of payroll and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is required. + Required to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, insurance documents, benefits booklets, reporting forms, HR policies & procedures, detailed correspondence and memos. + Required to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. + Ability to write correspondence in a clear and grammatically correct manner. + Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. + Must be able to understand verbal instructions. + Ability to write simple correspondence (correspondence includes both written and verbal). + Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, margins of profit, and percentages. + Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. + Must be able to calculate premiums, including the application of rates to headcounts, payroll and other standard units of volume. + Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form. + Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides. + Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc.
