**Part-time Programs + Facilities Assistant** Reference #2024-18 **Requirements** - High School Diploma or GED (required). - An associate degree or coursework in Recreation, Public/Arts Administration, or a related field is desirable. - Minimum1 year of experience in recreation programs or a related field, such as customer service. - Valid Florida Drivers' License and have and maintain a clean driving record. - Have or obtain, prior to the completion of the probationary period, certification in CPR and AED training. - Understanding of recreational and enrichment activities, related facilities, and equipment. - Familiarity with safety practices and procedures as applied to recreational programs. - Assist in leading and instructing recreational activities. - Interpersonal and communication skills. - Computer literacy, including proficiency with Windows-based applications. **Physical Requirements** - Operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including computers, copiers, calculators, etc. - Operate a motor vehicle. - Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. - Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. - Physical demands exceed those for light to medium work. **Summary** The Programs + Facilities Assistant is responsible for supporting the organization, promotion, and implementation of various recreational programs and special events. The role involves working under the supervision of the Program + Facilities Manager, following established methods, schedules, and procedures. The position requires some independent initiative and judgment to help meet program objectives. This full-time role offers flexible hours and includes some evening, weekend, and holiday work. **Responsibilities** - Assist in organizing, implementing, and overseeing recreational and educational programs for all ages and abilities, as well as special events. - Assist in the inspection, reporting, and scheduling of maintenance for the assigned facility.Perform routine custodial work and minor maintenance as needed. - Become familiar with equipment, usage patterns, emergency roles, operations schedules, and vulnerabilities of the assigned facility. - Assist in completing incident and damage reports/investigations in a timely manner. - Support the coordination of various recreational programs; help in organizing activities, scheduling events, and onboarding support staff and volunteers. - Assist in researching and overseeing the distribution and use of program-related equipment. - Help with the preparation, set-up, and breakdown of recreational equipment and facilities and events. - Administer non-emergent, basic first aid and follow established emergency procedures to assist participants as needed. - Assist office personnel with greeting customers, coordinating reservations for City facilities, answering phone calls, and collecting program/rental-related fees. - Use computer applications to support various tasks. - Assist with planning and coordinating events and meetings, including identifying and executing requirements, developing schedules/site plans, and coordinating with community partners. - Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders for projects, events, and programs when needed. - Maintain a strong commitment to the City of Cape Canaveral Organizational Values. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Department Director or Designee. **Supervisory Responsibilities** - May supervise recreational program volunteers and seasonal employees as assigned. **Work Environment** The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
