Job Title: Intern C, Optical Engineering Job Code: OTIC Job Location: Palm Bay, FL Job Description: L3Harris in Palm Bay, FL is seeking a senior academic student with strong knowledge of additive manufacturing and optomechanical engineering to support the design, fabrication, and validation of acousto-optic based additive manufacturing equipment that include components such as galvanometric mirrors, acousto-optic deflectors, laser sources, and free space optic. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse array of skills, with an emphasis on optomechanical design, control theory, and additive manufacturing. Essential Functions: + Design, analyze, modify, test and evaluate optical systems. + Employ modeling tools, perform laboratory experimentations. + Ability to operate all optical related equipment to successfully execute tasks to include data reductions, evaluation of result, and delivery/presentation to audience + Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. + Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers. + Work with a technical leader on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ensure successful outcome through program milestones. Qualifications: + Working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Optics Focus, Physics or related field \ Preferred Additional Skills: + Class work in mathematics, programming, physics, photonics systems/hardware + Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. + Must have the ability to obtain and hold a TS/SCI, w/ poly + Willing to learn and execute work herein laboratory environments + Must have ability to execute literature search during discovery + Must have focus and good attitude as a team player in R&D environment Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
