*POSITION SUMMARY* Provides quality service and stewardship by ensuring optimal support of laboratory testing activities through timely, accurate sample collection and preparation. Deals with and resolves all customer-related issues in a friendly, courteous, professional, and timely manner. Effectively communicates and escalates barriers, opportunities, and other department needs to the lab supervisor in real-time. Must demonstrate the ability to assume a leadership role as the designee of the laboratory leadership team, in problem-solving and promoting organizational goals and objectives. Assists the lab supervisor in the coordination of daily inpatient, outpatient phlebotomy, and other pre-analytical needs, staff scheduling, processing, shipping of patients’ specimens, as applicable: EKG and POC testing, and reporting, filling in as needed all department’s shifts and throughout Health First Lab locations. *PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES* * Complies with all Health First, HF Laboratory policies and procedures, along with all pertinent federal and state accreditation agency requirements. * Complies with policies, procedures, processes in the collection and processing of patient specimens, and provision of patient services, including offsite phlebotomy services as applicable. * Meets & shows commitment to continuously improve goals and performance improvement metrics developed to provide quality patient care. * Assures valid patient results as evidenced by zero patient or sample identification errors in the pre-analytical and post-analytical phases of laboratory procedures per evaluation period. * Demonstrates the appropriate skill sets as determined by the Annual Competency Assessments. * Ability to perform basic computer skills pertinent to job performance. * Availability to meet departmental staffing demands (i.e. holidays, weekends, coverage for illness and/or emergencies, reduced operations, increased workload) per department expectations and demonstrates effective time management. * Complies with the Health First I-Care values and demonstrates effective communication with co-workers and management to include proper escalation when necessary. * Assume scheduled shift responsibility when coverage is unavailable. * Adjusts the posted schedule as needed, arranges changes in coverage with the staff and informs the supervisor. * Mentors co-workers and students technical development. * Optimizes department efficiency by effective adjusting of staffing schedule and daily monitoring of Inpatient, Outpatient Phlebotomy and Support Services Operations. * Performs POC (Point of Care Testing) on the lab menu at the assigned site, correctly and in a timely manner, if applicable. * Participate in Proficiency Testing as determined by state regulations, if applicable. * Assists with the oversight and performance of lab registration, insurance eligibilities, authorizations, and payments, if applicable. * Takes on additional duties as assigned by laboratory administration. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* * *Education:* o High school diploma or equivalent; o /*and*/a diploma from an accredited phlebotomy training program. * *Licensure:* o Valid Florida Driver’s License. * *Certification:* o National Phlebotomy Certification from an accredited National Phlebotomy Certification Agency, o EKG Certification,/if applicable/; o Current AHA BLS certification. * *Work Experience:* o Meets qualification as Phlebotomy II; o 2 years of experience in venipuncture and specimen processing. * *Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:* o Strong computer skills. o Excellent customer service skills. o Good oral and written communication skill. o Ability to prioritize and organize work. o Must be able to cover alternative shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet customer needs when requested by lab supervisor. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* * *Work Experience:*3 years of experience in venipuncture and/or lab specimen processing. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* * Ability to adapt to a combination of sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift. * Ability to push wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds. * Ability to be flexible in covering required shifts (mandatory overtime). * Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted, several times a day. * Willing and able to work with bio-hazardous/toxic materials following OSHA guidelines. * Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks. * Must be able to pass a colorblind test. * Must be able to stand for extended periods. * Must be able to sit and operate a computer. *MENTAL DEMANDS* * Ability to work in a stressful environment. * Ability to respond to life threatening situations. * Ability to work with patients in long-term care environments, as applicable. * Ability to work with and share knowledge with students and associates. * Ability to make decisions. **Job:** **Laboratory* **Organization:** **Health First Medical Group LLC* **Title:** * HFMG Phlebotomist Team Lead* **Location:** *Florida - Brevard County-Viera* **Requisition ID:** *077827*
