HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Performs work in the operation of moderately complex heavy equipment inside the District. Work involves performing preventative maintenance, manual labor, operation of herbicide equipment, driving and operation of district vehicles and small engine equipment. Must be able to drive stick shift. Equipment can include Mowing, Grater, Front End Loader, LONG reach Excavator and Dump Truck
This position reports to the Road and Bridge Supervisor.
SPECIFIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Operation of dump truck, tractors, water truck, and other equipment as required.
Operation of smaller or light equipment and powered machinery (i.e. saws, weed eaters, lawn mowers)
Operation of heavier equipment on a temporary, emergency, or trainee basis.
Performs equipment preventative maintenance work.
Performs manual labor tasks related to the works of the District.
Performs maintenance of District roads, including culvert replacement.
Performs maintenance of District rights-of-ways.
Performs herbicide and pesticide spraying as requested, with non-restricted pesticides.
Assist other work crews as requested in various District work.
May be assigned to shift work. May be required to work weekends and holidays.

EMERGENCY STATUS
Essential (level 2): Employee is likely to be required to work immediately following an emergency (declared or undeclared). Position does not include non-deferrable services. Employee is expected to have made personal arrangements to report to work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
HS Diploma or equivalent
Valid FL Drivers License, class E minimum
1 year equipment operator experience (preference given for heavy equipment).
Proof of ability to operate equipment may be requested.
