Position Overview -
+ Performs technical, mainly pre-defined tasks for accomplishing defined service delivery work for customer equipment.
+ This position will be accountable for performing field inspections, repairs, and design modifications of wind turbine blades and other composite parts in wind turbines. In addition, technical data will be provided from the field and assist for design modifications/corrective actions.
+ Relocation will not be offered for this role.
Responsibilities -
+ Show professionalism, respect, and comprehension when assisting wind technicians and interacting with customers.
+ Perform Composite Inspections - Follow established procedures to document composite damages from both ground inspections as well as in-depth inspections from cranes, platforms or aerial lifts.
+ Use good written and verbal communication skills to describe complex damages, participate in preparation of inspection and repair reports, and follow up to final resolution.
+ Assist in composite related corrective actions (i.e. turbine status, large corrective events and repairs)
+ Assist in composite related design modifications (i.e. diverter strip retrofits, balance blocks, etc.,)
+ Ability to perform composite repairs in the air from a crane, suspended platform, aerial lift truck, or on the ground, with working knowledge of composite materials and related repairs.
+ Technician must be able to work with the maximum safety guidelines of all safety personal protection equipment.
+ Identify process improvements; including reduction of non-value added operations, increased productivity opportunities, increased safety opportunities, etc.
+ Ability to work in confined / enclosed space
+ Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time - up to 95% travel time possible.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
+ Candidate should have knowledge about the composite work and minimum 2-3 years of experience on the field.
+ Must have a High school diploma
+ Must have clean driving record and pass pre-hire drug screening.
+ High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent Work
+ Vocation/Technical School/ Diploma Program
+ Comprehension of basic turbine trouble shooting
+ Knowledge of blades and inspection techniques
+ Comprehension of turbine work and safety practices
+ Knowledge of composite materials and blade repair
+ Microsoft Excel, Word
+ Ability to work from height for inspection or repairs
+ Use of digital camera – set up and operation
+ May provide general guidance to others and train lower level employees.
+ Flexible travel schedule, up to 95%.
+ Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks of their license

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
+ Spotting Scope, digital camera, composite repair equipment (i.e. sanders, grinders, repair chemicals, etc.), Standard office equipment, forklift truck, suspended platform.
+ Basic use of Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
+ Suspended Platform rigging and operation
+ Familiarity with Gamesa and/or Siemens Mechanical/Electrical turbine operation
+ Ability to lead repair team
Compensation:
+ The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Inc., it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $53000 - $79000.
