Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Astronaut Rescue Mission Coordinator to support the deployment of DoD assets and coordinate with attached forces and interagency partners for astronaut rescue operations following Artemis or Commercial Crew Program contingency landings. This role involves planning, training, and executing missions, including reviewing and updating planning documents, coordinating military training and exercises, and managing onsite operations and redeployment logistics. The Mission Coordinator will operate from an operations center during training, testing, and mission execution events. Clearance Required:  Yes – Secret Clearance *This is an onsite position.* Responsibilities: + Coordinate the deployment and employment of DoD assets for astronaut rescue operations in support of Artemis and Commercial Crew Program contingencies. + Collaborate with attached forces and interagency partners to ensure seamless execution of rescue missions and end-of-mission recovery operations. + Review and update mission planning documents to reflect current operational requirements and best practices. + Assist in coordinating military training exercises to enhance readiness for astronaut rescue scenarios. + Manage the logistics of deployments, onsite operations, and redeployment to ensure efficient mission execution. + Serve as the Mission Coordinator in the operations center, providing oversight and direction during training, test, and mission execution events. + Facilitate communication among all stakeholders involved in astronaut rescue operations, ensuring clarity and coordination of efforts. + Evaluate mission performance and contribute to post-mission assessments to improve future operations. Qualifications: + Previous experience as a military rated-officer (pilot or navigator/combat systems officer) in either rotary- or fixed-wing rescue aircraft. + Possess an expert knowledge of military aviation instructions, tactics, techniques and procedures as well as aircraft capabilities and employment. + A strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This includes the ability to prepare and present briefings, papers, and presentations to senior leaders in the military and interagency. An ability to interact with military, contractors, and interagency personnel to build teams and maintain good working relationships. + The ability to work independently to plan and complete assignments on time. The products are thorough, logical, meet objectives, and are grammatically correct. + The ability to analyze complex problems and develop and articulate recommended plans and objectives that lead to resolution within existing policy or instruction guidance. + The ability to understand and articulate orally and in writing the consequences (intended and unintended) in advance of actions or decisions. + The ability to conceptualize, develop, and present mission-specific training or orientation courses for military personnel. + The ability to produce high quality products and provide high quality recommendations that are consistent with a fiscally constrained mission environment. + Additional Workforce Experience: It is preferred that the Contract workforce have experience at Military, Joint and Interagency assignments (or similar civilian equivalents). + Ability to travel occasionally to support the mission. Typical locations include but are not limited to Joint Base Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam,  HI. Travel is expected to be less than 10% per year. + Ability to work occasional 24/7 shift work, including weekends and holidays supporting specific missions and exercises. Preferred Qualifications: + Previous experience as a rated-officer (pilot or navigator/combat systems officer) who achieved qualification as an Instructor or Evaluator in either rotary- or fixed-wing rescue aircraft.
