Job Description The primary responsibility of an Accountant is to provide support to the ongoing efforts and processes of the accounting department. This role may require exposure to a wide array of accounting functions and will be responsible for analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. Accountants ensure all financial records and statements are in line with laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Duties and Responsibilities + Processes accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR). + Prepares 1099 and 1096 annual reporting. + Maintains vendor records, including W-9’s. + Collaborates with other internal departments and business vendors to improve business processes. + Process employee reimbursements, travel expenses, and any other necessary expense documentation. + Prepare monthly credit card statements for approval and coding. + Comply with all internal reporting requirements. + Process checks as directed/ACH payments. + Prepare Audit schedules. + Assist with monthly closing procedures. + Fixed asset management. + Accounting and financial data entry. + Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Experience + Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, business administration, economics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience. + Familiarity with CostPoint/Deltek or ADP systems. + 0-3 years of accounting related experience (federal contracting or defense industry preferred). + High proficiency with MS suite products (excel, word, Power Point, etc.) + Knowledge of accounts payable/purchasing methodology and basic accounting principles. + Attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking abilities. + Possess strong communication (both oral and written), organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and time management skills. + Strong active listening skills and attention to detail. + Ability to work in a dynamic environment to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. + Ability to multi-task, work with deadlines and respond quickly to change. + Strong customer focused attitude. + Ability to build & foster positive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. + Sales and use tax knowledge. + Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance. Preferred Skills (Not Required) + An advanced degree in business administration, accounting, management, finance, economics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience. + High familiarity with CostPoint/Deltek or ADP system modules and/or implementations. + Experience with invoice entry in WAWF/PIEE. + Interaction with DCMA/DCAA. + Accounting certifications (CPA, CGMA, CMA, etc.) + An active Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance. Physical Requirements + Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. + Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. + Ability to travel for work.
